The Weather Network Image Gallery

I awoke this morning with the most uncomfortable feeling; I couldn't breathe! My machine had shut off. Apparently, the power was out. I could hear the wind outside whistling away (138km/h). Debris caught by the wind was crashing into the house.

Fortunately, Avvie is a very heavy sleeper. She slept like a log through most of the chaos. When she woke up around 8AM, she had a bright smile and wanted to see the "trees dancing".

All in all, there were few injuries and no deaths reported. We are lucky we are so sheltered where we live. Others were not as fortunate. To date (March 13), 12,000 are without power, which is an improvement from yesterday's 30,000. Trees have taken out power lines and crashed into homes. My hat goes off to the fine BC Hydro people working hard to make sure we can recover from the storm.

The weather forcast for tonight is 80km/h starting at midnight, 0°C and snow. An improvement from yesterday.

Today's Avvie-isms:
 • I was trying to teach Avaleigh the letters A through E by singing the alphabet song. She kept saying "No, Done!" Finally she yelled, "Please make it stop!". Both Griffin and I were laughing too hard to pester her further!

 • While I was strapping Avvie into the car to go to Grandma and Grandpa's house, I was telling her she would see Angus McDuff (the family dog) there. She tried to repeat after me, but instead said "...in the buff!"
